This paper discusses the most recent and common technologies for modeling heterogeneous objects composed of more than one material type. Researchers have found the great need for heterogeneous modeling of objects in order to get the required properties of the object material. Eight technologies for modeling heterogeneous objects have been explained and discussed in this review paper. The advantages and disadvantages of each method have been introduced. Two applications of heterogeneous objects were introduced, the heterogeneous turbine blades and the heterogeneous flywheel. Comparison of the most common methods of rapid prototyping has been made in the review. I has been found that all present heterogeneous modeling technologies have many limitations. So, there is required to develop an effective heterogeneous modeling technology that takes into consideration both the design geometry and the material composition simultaneously. Using wavelets in the mathematical representation of heterogeneous objects might greatly help in finding that perfect technology.en_US
