dc.description.abstractThis Chapter presents experimental and theoretical aspects of the longitudinal magnetoresistance (MR) of gold cobalt Co/Au(111) multilayers composed of ultrathin ferromagnetic layers of cobalt alternating with thick gold layers. MR and magnetization measurements by SQUID have been performed on Au/Co/Au/Co/Au multi-layers. These experiments confirm the mechanism of spindependent diffusion at the interfaces leading to the increase of the resistance when the two magnetic layers have anti-parallel magnetizations.en_US
